In a year unlike any other, and nearly two months after the ceremony was originally scheduled, the 63rd Grammy Awards finally launched their show from Los Angeles, live from the LA Convention Center.

BMG recording artist and Grammy nominee Ledisi kicked off the awards, within the first five minutes of the pre-telecast, singing the opening lines to Marvin Gaye’s classic ‘Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)’ in an all-star ‘jam’ as a nod to a very challenging year across the globe. The incredibly talented BMG Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright performed ‘Devils and Angels (Hatred)’ from his critically acclaimed album Unfollow The Rules, released by BMG in the summer of 2020; BMG recording artist Jimmy Jam (Chairman Emirtus) presented the awards for the R&B category.

BMG scored its first-ever Reggae win with the Trojan Records release of Got To Be Tough by Toots & The Maytals awarded Best Reggae Album. A posthumous award, Toots Hibbert passed away on September 11, 2020. Following, awards for Best Rock Album – The Strokes (P), Best Traditional R&B Performance – Ledisi (R), Best R&B Album – John Legend (P), as well as contributing to awards for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package 2021 – Lawrence Azerrad & Jeff Tweedy (P), Best Remixed Recording – ‘Roses (Imanbek Remix)’ by Imanbek Zeikenov, remixer SAINt JHN (P), and Best Country Duo/Group Performance – ‘10,000 Hours’ performed by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber, contributing BMG songwriter Poo Bear.
