One of Germany’s most successful and outstanding hip-hop artists, Kontra K sets a new standard with every single music video.

During the filming of a clip for his new single 'Wenn Das Schicksal Trifft' in Iceland, the Fagradalsfjall volcano, not far from the capital Reykjavík, erupted for the first time in almost 800 years. Kontra K's team, including director Shaho Casado, continued filming just 50 meters from the lava flow, which was several hundred degrees hot. A place where only scientists in protective suits would normally dare to go.

Explaining his choice for extraordinary locations, Kontra K said: "I don't want to stand still with my art, but always reach a new level and push boundaries. If you can imagine something, you can make it happen."

Kontra K leaves genre clichés to others. His music videos focus on visually stunning locations and protagonists set against breathtaking backdrops. He faces extreme forces of nature as well as life-threatening animals.

The Berlin rapper spent minutes in ice water in Russia ('Diese Eine Melodie', 2021); he climbed Berlin's Siegessäule to perform at the feet of the Victoria statue ('Alles was sie will', 2019); and he filmed at the height of 150 meters on top of Berlin's radio tower and on the edge of a mountain in front of a 600 meters deep gorge ('Letzte Träne', 2019).

He also aims to draw attention to environmental, economic, and social issues, opening the viewers' eyes to current problems in the world.

Shortly after the devastating wildfires in Australia in 2019/2020, he not only performed amid burnt forests but also got involved on-site in the reconstruction work and launched a fundraising campaign.

Kontra K’s cooperation with BMG started in 2017 with the release of his sixth studio album Gute Nacht, which was followed by Erde und Knochen (2018), Sie Wollten Wasser Doch Kriegen Benzin (2019) and his latest album Vollmond (2020) – all four albums entering the Official German Album Charts at Number One. Including 2016’s Labyrinth, it’s his fifth consecutive Number One album in five years.

In 2019 the Berlin-based rapper signed an exclusive worldwide music publishing deal with BMG in addition to his hugely successful recordings deal and launched a new record label with the company called Die letzten Wölfe.
