Following on from the success of their debut album It Won't Always Be Like This, BMG publishing clients Inhaler released their highly-anticipated second studio album Cuts & Bruises to great acclaim reaching the Number One spot on the Official Irish Albums Chart and achieving further Top 10 positions across Europe including number two in the UK, number five in the Netherlands, and number nine in Belgium. The album is also the fastest selling album in Ireland this year.
Produced by Inhaler's long-term collaborator Antony Genn (Pulp, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, Robbie Williams), Cuts & Bruises features 11 tracks including the recently released 'If You're Gonna Break My Heart', the uplifting 'Love Will Get You There' and last summer's, 'These Are The Days'.
After a successful tour across the UK and Ireland in 2021, Inhaler began recording Cuts & Bruises at The Nunnery, their rehearsal space in their hometown Dublin. “It was just the four of us jamming in the live room and trying to come up with ideas on the spot,” says bassist Robert Keating. “Playing live for a few months beforehand really helped shape what kind of direction we wanted to take it in.”
“The subject matters of the songs are still all about coming-of-age stuff – the standard stuff you write when you're a teenager,” adds Elijah Hewson, the band’s vocalist, guitarist, and principal lyricist. “But it also became a little bit more about being in a band. These songs are less about the world around us, and more about what's going on inside Inhaler.”
Inhaler formed whilst still at school in Dublin, bonding over a love of Joy Division, The Stone Roses, Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, Interpol, The Cure, and more. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Elijah Hewson, bassist Robert Keating, guitarist Josh Jenkinson and drummer Ryan McMahon.
The band will embark on a string of sold-out UK tour dates this month followed by a month-long headline US tour. Leading up to the summer, the band will join Arctic Monkeys on their European tour ahead of playing their biggest UK headline shows to date on May 19 and 20 at Manchester's Victoria Warehouse and London's Brixton Academy respectively.
