BMG publishing client Mura Masa, PinkPantheress, and Ice Spice have been dominating the global charts with their smash hit ‘Boy’s a liar Pt.2’. The track currently sits at Number One in New Zealand, number two in the UK, Canada, Australia, and Ireland, and number three (and rising) on the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify’s Global 100 (chart week dated March 4, 2023).

Mura Masa and PinkPantheress released their initial collaboration ‘Boy’s a liar’ at the tail-end of 2022. The song achieved a minor chart entry in the UK and modest streaming numbers in the US.

The new remix, ‘Boy’s a liar Pt.2’ adds a verse from New York rap sensation Ice Spice and has given the song fresh life, resulting in the first Hot 100 entry for producer Mura Masa and the first Top 10 hit for both PinkPantheress and Ice Spice.

Mura Masa and PinkPantheress first collaborated on PinkPantheress' breakout 'just for me' in 2021 after the pair were introduced via BMG earlier that year. The song would go on to be a critical hit for the pair being listed among the best songs of the year by Billboard, NPR, and Pitchfork, going viral ahead of release with over two million videos created using the snippet on TikTok, and being nominated for an Ivor Novello Award. The pair also collaborated on Mura Masa's hit 'Bbycakes' with Lil Uzi Vert and Shygirl in 2022.

Speaking to Billboard on the chart success of ‘Boy’s a liar Pt.2’, Mura Masa said: "I think it’s just the combination of two extremely zeitgeist-y artists. There are interesting through-lines between them as artists: they both have an interesting emotional center to what they do. It’s just a match made in heaven, and the video makes the chemistry super-obvious. But as far as why it’s doing so well, I just think it’s a brilliant song, and Pink’s a great songwriter."

Of their collaboration, PinkPantheress said, "Me and Mura Masa wanted to create a fun track together about a common theme this time of year: boys being LIARS."

With 43 million views on YouTube and over 140 million Spotify streams and counting, the track has also been a viral sensation on TikTok with it being featured in over 700,000 videos to date. ‘Boy’s a liar Pt.2’ is set to challenge Miley Cyrus’ smash-hit ‘Flowers’ for the top spot as the song continues to rise in the charts.
