UK record labels association the BPI announce the continuation of support for labels and creators seeking international opportunities through further online activities, including partnering with Sound City for Sound City Korea on 27 November, and hosting another LA Sync Mission Webinar with the Music Publishers Association(MPA), which is being organised in close association with the Department for International Trade (DIT).

Sound City Korea is a pioneering programme for musicians and industry professionals based in England with a view to creating opportunities in South Korea. The BPI continues its partnership with Sound City, with this year's event taking place online for the first time. It will run from 9:30 (GMT) and 18:30 (KST) on Guest House and the Sound City Facebook page.

The next LA Sync Mission Webinar will take place on 2nd December at 5pm, and is titled 'The Genius of Advertising: Music Sync in the Ad World'. From the Department for International Trade, the BPI and the MPA, this is the third LA Sync Mission Webinar, following successful events in June and September. The webinar will be moderated by Josh Rabinowitz (Founder/Music Consultant, Brooklyn Music Experience), and the panel will consist of Josh Marcy (Director of Music, Media Arts Lab), Gabe McDonough (Partner/Executive Producer, Music & Strategy), and Anh-Thu Le (Director of Content Production/Executive Producer, TBWA/Chiat/Day). Sign up for the webinar can be done here.

These virtual events will be free to attend and are open to all. They follow successful international webinars hosted by the BPI for China, Brazil, and India held earlier this year, alongside several LA Sync Mission Webinars, all of which proved to be popular among BPI members.

Chris Tams, BPI Director of International, said: "International missions are key in helping our members, and the wider music community, grow their audiences and exports in overseas markets, and we've been determined to make sure that the pandemic doesn't prevent this. Our LA Sync Mission webinars have been incredibly popular and we're delighted to be able to offer another, focusing on the important role of advertising in the Sync world. Our partnership with Sound City continues to grow and we're excited to work with them on the first virtual Sound City Korea."

Emma McGann, Songwriter with X My Heart Records, said: "The last LA Sync Mission webinar was by far the most insightful session I've attended virtually this year. I found every answer I'd been looking for and the panellists were both informative and transparent in their comments. It's a must-go for anyone starting out in the world of sync, and I am looking forward to this next session."

Trevor Heath, Licensing Manager Tru Thoughts Records, said: "In these strange and uncertain times, it's reassuring to still be able to get an insight into international markets, export and sync opportunities. Just like the overseas trade missions that normally take place each year, the webinars organised by the BPI and their partners with DIT are proving incredibly helpful. We are always seeking to network and plan a future in new and exciting markets, and the webinars are paramount to us being able to do this."

Josh Marcy – Director of Music, Media Arts Lab

Josh Marcy has been working at the intersection of music and marketing for nearly two decades. In his current role as a Director of Music at Media Arts Lab, he has helped create award-winning commercials for Apple with talent such as Stevie Wonder and Billie Eilish. McDonough has built a reputation for finding and breaking emerging artists through memorable campaigns, including Santigold's breakthrough "Lights Out" placement in Bud Light Lime commercials, and, more recently, Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" used in Ford spots. Always looking for non-traditional ways to incorporate music into brand campaigns, McDonough even enlisted Wilco's Glenn Kotche to "play" faucets for a Delta Faucet commercial. At his current role at MAS, McDonough oversees the West Coast business in original music composition, music supervision and music strategy.
