'D-2' by Agust D from BTS makes new chart history
Agust D aka Suga [Yoongi] from BTS, has made further chart history by landing at No. 7 in this week's UK Albums chart [Friday, May 29] with his new free mixtape, D-2.
Agust D's D-2 also holds the record for biggest album debut week on Spotify by any Korean soloist ever.
The rapper and producer's new mixtape dominated the iTunes charts and went to No. 1 in its first week on Friday [May 22] as well as occupying all No. 2-11 slots with his other songs.
His track “Daechwita” hit No. 2 on iTunes songs while the album led the Top 10 and Top 20 packed with new releases.
"Daechwita" is the second track on the mixtape, and includes traditional Korean themes with a sample from a pre-existing Daechwita, a genre of traditional Korean military music. BTS bandmates Jungkook and Jin appear in the music video for the track which has now hit over 56.5 million staggering views [at time of writing] on YouTube.
Yoongi is known to keep a fairly low-profile and has often said that if he weren’t in the spotlight with BTS, he would still like to be a producer, so D-2 has definitely allowed him that creative outlet.
Given that the South Korean megastars would have been completing their US tour if it were not for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Agust D's D-2 has been a much appreciated gift this month for ARMY worldwide.
