Bastille: 'We've been recording music with rapper Angel Haze'

'Pompeii' hitmakers Bastille have confessed that they've been playing with a more hip-hop direction while working on plans for their second album.

Speaking about their most recent musical influence, Dan Smith explained that being on tour with a rapper has exposed them to a new world and they've been recording together:

"We are touring with Angel Haze and we have recorded some stuff together too. Maybe it's not the most obvious fit but she's an intelligent rapper with insightful lyrics."

Smith added that Bastille's forthcoming sophomore album will be more diverse although they feel that, as a band, they have started to define their sound more:

"The second album will be much clearer as to what our influences are. If more drastically all over the place, in a good way. I still sneak off and sing into my phone but we are writing more collaboratively at sound checks too this time."
