Absolute Radio 50s and Absolute Radio Movies also join the Premium offering

Ahead of the FIFA World Cup kicking off this month, Absolute Radio has drafted in playing legend and fan-favourite pundit Dion Dublin to launch a new station, Absolute Radio Terrace Anthems. Playing all the biggest football singalongs, listeners will be transported to the stadium and ready to cheer England and Wales on. Listeners will also be able to sample the stations ahead of the big games with an hour of terrace anthems on Absolute Radio.

Listeners can expect anthems such as Vindaloo by Fat Les and All Together Now by The Farm, to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers, Delilah by Tom Jones and – of course – the iconic Three Lions by David Baddiel and fellow Absolute Radio presenter Frank Skinner.

That’s not all – Absolute Radio has also announced the launch of two extra stations, Absolute Radio Movies and new decade station Absolute Radio 50s. The former will get listeners grabbing for the popcorn and pumping up the volume on tracks from Top Gun, Back to the Future, Skyfall, Guardians of the Galaxy more, whilst the latter will celebrate the classics from a genre-defining decade, including Nina Simone, Elvis, Jackie Wilson and Buddy Holly.

On joining the Absolute Radio family, Dion Dublin said: “I’ve been a huge music fan for as long as I can remember, so to be given the opportunity by Absolute Radio to combine two of my biggest passions – music and football – is something I’ll always remember. From Wavin’ Flag to We Are The Champions, Tom Jones to David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, Absolute Radio Terrace Anthems will have something for everyone to get stuck into. I hope the fans enjoy listening to the station as much as I know I’ll enjoy playing the classics!”

Paul Sylvester, Content Director, Absolute Radio added: “I promise that Absolute Radio 50s will complete the Absolute Radio decade strategy (for eight years at least). We also know that Absolute Radio’s listeners are massive football fans and so for the first time, we’re offering a music station that plays the songs which are intrinsically associated with the music sung and played in football stadiums across the UK.”

All three new stations will be available from Monday 14th November on Absolute Radio Premium, the brand’s monthly subscription service that provides greater levels of flexibility and choice in an uninterrupted listening environment.
