THE SMALLS INVITE ASPIRING FILMMAKERS TO ENTER MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION - Prize value of 12,000 USD and screening at SXSW 2013

Renowned independent film community The Smalls officially launched its new ‘Pitch Room’ platform in February 2013. One of the first briefs is in conjunction with Austin, TX rock band Southbound Drive. Each participating filmmaker will receive access to a virtual toolkit of resources, including performance footage of Southbound Drive filmed in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) house, to create the band’s new music video. With its new Pitch Room brief, The Smalls and Austin, TX rock band Southbound Drive are inviting filmmakers and music video directors from around the world to create an original video for the track ‘Marigold’ (http://bit.ly/Nj4eic) from the band’s new album ‘Agnes’ – produced by Grammy nominated Chris “Frenchie” Smith. The Marigold brief’s winning filmmaker will receive worldwide exposure for their video, which will be featured on all of The Smalls and Southbound Drive websites and social media channels, and a $12,000 award which includes a $1,000 cash prize, showcasing during SXSW 2013, and a $5,000 video promotions package. In addition, The Smalls will highlight a special series of runner up videos and recognize their creativity in special features.

In addition to hosting briefs from artists such as Southbound Drive, The Smalls also welcomes brands and agencies into its ‘Pitch Room’.  Recently, British fashion retailer New Look used the platform to find a talented filmmaker to create their new fashion film. Titled ‘It’s A Bloggers Life’, the short film will be shown at New Look’s London Fashion Week event on Friday 15th February and across the retailer's digital channels.
