Fergie to receive Billboard’s ‘Woman of the Year’ award

It has been announced that Fergie, the Grammy award winning Black Eyed Peas singer, will receive Billboard’s ‘Woman of the Year’ award at their 2010 Women in Music Event.

Fergie, who has spent 2010 touring with the Black Eyed Peas, is known for numerous things outside of her music, including her extensive charity work.

“I am humbled and excited to accept the Billboard Woman of the Year Award,” said Fergie. “Being honoured by Billboard is a great career achievement.”

Past winners of the award include Beyonce, Ciara and Reba McEntire.

“Fergie took the music industry by storm the moment she came onto the scene, and we’re thrilled to celebrate her career achievements and incredible successes over the past years by honouring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award,” stated Bill Werde, Billboard’s editorial director.

The 2010 Women in Music Event will be held on December 2, 2010 in New York.
