Nov. 1, 2021 (MUNICH, GERMANY) — Singer/songwriter David Gramberg, today released “Raise My Bet” – his debut single via Bougalou Entertainment – available to stream or download BELOW.
Penned by Gramberg, he first performed the enthusiastic, alt-pop song with his previous band Mary Lou at a tour support show for the German artist Joris to affirmative crowd reaction, which motivated him to record the song during the first pandemic lockdown, after his band decided to take a creative break. With its catchy melodies, powerful drums and gospel choir-like elements, "Raise My Bet" is a brilliant mix of infectious confidence and carefree soulfulness.
The companion music video to “Raise My Bet” is also available to view BELOW. Directed by Felix Pitscheneder (Moop Mama, Whale City, Monobo Son), the video conveys the metaphor of a ‘blank page’ as a symbol for a fresh start, showing Gramberg and a dancing woman, performing in a completely white room, both dressed entirely in white. At a certain point, initiated by Gramberg’s vocals (“Let’s turn the whole thing around right here, there’s no time to fear”), the whole room gets painted in the bold red color of the single’s cover artwork.
For Gramberg, unexpected twists in life can be a chance, if encountered with a positive attitude.
“I was so busy touring with my band until the pandemic started - all at once I was sitting at home in lockdown and literally my whole life changed,” Gramberg recalls. “One band mate after another announced that he was going to be a father—including my brother. That was really overwhelming. I was so joyful, at the same time it made me realize how fast things can shift, how fragile moments are. Life is pretty damn short, but suddenly I had time—and I felt the urge to do something positive with it, especially by seeing so many fellow artists facing existential struggles. The line ‘there’s no time to fear’ eventually popped up in my head and ‘Raise My Bet’ became my answer to the whole situation. Today I’m the uncle of an awesome little man and my first own ‘baby’ just came into the world—actually that’s quite an amazing outcome of such a difficult period!”
David is set to release further singles throughout 2022, which he wrote during quarantine. The eclectic selection of songs introduces David’s unforgettably warm and touching voice, revealing his supreme talent as multi-instrumentalist, capturing complex emotions in immediately powerful music. David has created a beautifully crafted debut single that expresses both courage and levity in his characteristic songwriting and pleasing vocals.
Since the beginning of this year's fall season, David gained more and more attention with the song "Autumn Comes", which he wrote for Mary Lou. The delightful autumn tune, which was a hair away from not being released at all, is now used on more Instagram Reels than ‘Autumn Leaves’ by Ed Sheeran, ‘bad guy’ by Billie Eilish, ‘drivers license’ by Olivia Rodrigo, ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X, or ‘WAP’ by Cardi B.
