Published: August 14, 2024 -- BritBox will exclusively premiere the second season of the Original crime drama Sherwood on November 14 in the U.S. and Canada, the streaming service announced today.

The first season of the BAFTA-nominated series was one of the most-watched shows in the UK, and the second season is a suspense-filled follow-up driven by an all-star cast of celebrated British actors.

Directed by the acclaimed British film director Clio Barnard (Ali & Ava, The Selfish Giant) and Tom George (This Country, See How They Run), this new and Original drama from Nottingham-born James Graham stars David Morrissey, Lesley Manville, Monica Dolan, David Harewood, and Lorraine Ashbourne.

The cast list continues with Robert Lindsay, Stephen Dillane, Sharlene Whyte, Perry Fitzpatrick, Christine Bottomley, Philip Jackson, Aisling Loftus, Bill Jones, Adam Hugill, Ria Zmitrowicz, Robert Emms, Michael Balogun, Oliver Huntingdon, Jorden Myrie, Conor Deane, and Bethany Asher.

The second season further explores the powerful themes that made the first so resonant to audiences. Set in the present day, it introduces two new families that find themselves entangled with the Sparrows, entering a complex web of local gangs, old rivalries, revenge, and betrayal.

Meanwhile, a newly appointed Sheriff of Nottingham is passionately fighting against a proposed new mine for the area. While the mine promises much-needed jobs and prosperity, it is also an unwelcome reminder of the legacy that has mired the community for so long.

Sherwood season two was filmed in and around Nottingham and is produced by House Productions.

James Graham wrote all six episodes and is an executive producer on the series. Clio Barnard is the lead director and executive producer, with Tom George directing episodes four, five, and six.

Kate Ogborn is the producer. Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross, and Harriet Spencer are executive producers for House Productions, with Jo McClellan for the BBC. BBC Studios, which owns House Productions, is the international distributor of both series. Season one is available to stream on BritBox.
