Young skateboarder and Olympics hopeful designs Blue Peter’s 2021 sport badgeSky Brown launched this year’s Sport badge on CBBC"Wow, what an honour. I got to design a sport badge and I’m so excited for Blue Peter viewers to get their hands on one!" — Sky BrownOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY CBBC The youngest professional skateboarder in the world and Olympics hopeful, Sky Brown, has designed Blue Peter’s coveted 2021 sport badge with the special design unveiled on today’s show Sky, 12, will be the youngest British Olympian of all time if selected to take part in this summer’s Olympics and will be one of the youngest competitors in Tokyo. She will be part of a new generation of athletes showcasing one of the five new sports added to the Olympic programme for Tokyo. Blue Peter chose Sky to design this year’s sport badge as she is a similar age to many of the audience and is also an inspiration to kids who may want to give sport a go. Sky is passionate about getting outdoors to try new sports so the main symbols she wanted to include in her design were waves from the ocean, as she is also a keen surfer, and a white skate wheel surrounding the Blue Peter ship. The design also reflects the sky as a nod to the skater herself. Sky says: “Wow, what an honour. I got to design a sport badge and I’m so excited for Blue Peter viewers to get their hands on one! I hope it represents the joy, energy, happiness and freedom I feel from sport. I love the ocean, I love surfing and, of course, I love skating - so there’s a little bit of all of that on the badge, as well as a message to inspire you all to get outside and enjoy your sports.” The sport badge is awarded for getting active and trying a sport or physical activity kids may not have tried before. Viewers can watch Blue Peter on CBBC on Thursdays at 5pm or catch up on BBC iPlayer. For more information about Blue Peter badges and how to collect them visit https://
