Sir David Attenborough has narrated a special episode of Hey Duggee to share the wonder of plants and The Green Planet.

Regular narrator Alexander Armstrong is joined by Sir David, who helps Duggee and Squirrels to understand that plants, including trees, are some of the most important living things on Earth – in a special guest appearance.

The Green Planet Badge will debut on 9 January on the Hey Duggee YouTube channel, the same day that the landmark five-part natural history series The Green Planet launches on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The special Hey Duggee episode will air on CBeebies on 10 January at 7.20am and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

The Green Planet, from BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit, is the first immersive portrayal of an unseen, inter-connected world, full of remarkable new behaviour, emotional stories and surprising heroes in the plant world. It is Planet Earth from the perspective of plants.

Hey Duggee is a fun, inclusive and educational series devised by Grant Orchard, senior director of Studio AKA, and narrated by comedian Alexander Armstrong.

Each episode features members of the Squirrel Club exploring, learning and overcoming challenges to earn a new Badge from Duggee – making new friends along the way.

Since launching in 2014, Hey Duggee has become a six-time BAFTA and international Emmy award-winning hit on CBeebies and was the most-watched kids’ show on BBC iPlayer in 2021. All episodes of Hey Duggee are available exclusively on BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Additionally, Hey Duggee has over 1.2 million fans across its social channels and its official YouTube channel has over a billion lifetime views. Recently Hey Duggee teamed up with The Body Coach Joe Wicks for The Workout Badges series on YouTube, following on from bespoke lockdown-themed content on its social channels such as The Handwashing Badge, while The Parenting Badge, which debuted in December 2020, has had over 1.2 million views.
