International jazz and soul star Gregory Porter is to sing rather than read a CBeebies Bedtime Story - in a first for the much-loved show.

Gregory sings Moon River, the classic ballad from Breakfast At Tiffany’s, accompanied by Chip Crawford on the piano. Moon River is composed by Henry Mancini with lyrics by Johnny Mercer and the book illustrations are by Tim Hopgood.

The broadcast is part of BBC Teach’s Bring the Noise campaign which aims to help children to discover the joys of music-making and will air on the pre-school channel on Friday 22 November.

Gregory says: “It was an honour to perform a lullaby for CBeebies Bedtime Stories. Moon River is one of my all-time favourites, so to be able to sing it, to inspire dreaming is pretty cool.”

Gregory Porter follows the likes of Dolly Parton, George Ezra, Elton John, Guy Garvey and Mark Ronson in musicians that have appeared on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories airs daily at 6.50pm.
