New Hey Duggee episode The Game Show Badge premieres on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer on 22 June and pays homage to popular TV gameshows that parents watching with their children will recognise, including University Challenge, Through The Keyhole, The Generation Game, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Mastermind.

The Squirrels are bored. They have played all of their board games and are looking for something new to enjoy, so Duggee hosts his Woofety Woof Gameshow! The Squirrels are up against the reigning champions, The Acorn Heads (a team of familiar faces). They play a series of different rounds all based on some familiar-looking gameshows, to see who will be crowned the winning team. Viewers will see Roly take the famous black Mastermind chair and a mouse wearing a bow tie presenting ‘In Who’s House Is This Mouse?’ in a gentle nod to Loyd Grossman’s tenure on Through The Keyhole, among other playful takes on familiar game shows.

Hey Duggee is full of fun and inspires children to be energetic, collaborative and curious. Episodes are often peppered with popular culture references that parents will enjoy too. The Mixtape Badge, which premiered last week on CBeebies, featured well-known music artists, including The Cure, Ornette Coleman, David Bowie, Bjork, Kendrick Lamar and Orbital, leading to tweets from @TheCure and @OrbitalBand and mentions on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Apocalypse Now, Super Mario Bros. and The Simpsons have also been subtly parodied in past episodes of Hey Duggee.

Hey Duggee is narrated by comedian Alexander Armstrong and follows the adventures of pre-schoolers Happy, Tag, Norrie, Betty and Roly as they try new things and earn badges at The Squirrel Club under the guidance of Duggee.

Hey Duggee, a Studio AKA production with BBC Studios, is a six time Bafta and international Emmy award-winning hit on CBeebies, which consistently ranks as one of the top three programmes on the channel. The show has an impressive global footprint in over 150 territories and over 2 billion minutes of total YouTube watch time.

Brand new episodes of Hey Duggee series three air weekdays on CBeebies at 7.15am and are also available on BBC iPlayer.
