Capitol Music Group holds annual Capitol Congress in Hollywood


Artists Present New Projects, Media Notables Speak To Industry Issues

Capitol Music Group (CMG) Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett hosted the company's Annual Capitol Congress on Wednesday, August 9 at the ArcLight Theatre in Hollywood, during which CMG's superstar and developing artists presented their forthcoming projects to company and entertainment industry representatives from around the world, as well as consumer and trade media. Joining Barnett and hundreds of specially-invited attendees were Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO Sir Lucian Grainge and an array of CMG artists who presented new and forthcoming projects, including Oscar- Golden Globe- and Grammy Award-winner Sam Smith, Grammy Award-winner Beck, critically-acclaimed, Grammy Award-nominee and multi-platinum maverick Halsey, global superstar Niall Horan, Grammy Award-nominee Lil Yachty (aka "King of the Teens"), Grammy nominated rapper Vic Mensa and critically acclaimed artist and songwriter Maggie Rogers.

Guests were welcomed with opening comments from Barnett and Grainge, before seeing and hearing presentations from the abovementioned artists and a range of notable figures from the music and entertainment industries who spoke on major topics relevant to attendees. These participants included included Grammy Award-wining music producers Don Was, who also serves as CMG's Blue Note Records President, acclaimed music producers Greg Kurstin, Spike Stent and CMG EVP Dion "No I.D." Wilson, who recently produced Jay-Z's #1 album 4:44 and Apple Music's Beats 1 host Zane Lowe, who interviewed Sam Smith about his forthcoming album.
