Carrie Underwood added to CMT Awards performers list

2016's CMT Awards will take place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on June 8 and Carrie Underwood has now been confirmed as a performed.

The 'Blown Away' sensation will take the stage on the night and is also up for the following awards at the ceremony: Video of the Year, Female Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year.

A number of other performers have also been announced, including Fifth Harmony who will duet with Cam on a mash-up their hit single 'Work From Home' with Cam's 'Mayday'. Pitbull, Cassadee Pope and Leona Lewis will also take the stage.

Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis earned a nomination for their collaboration on a cover of Little Big Town's 'Girl Crush' at last year's CMT Artists of the Year event.

As previously reported, Carrie Underwood recently opened up about experiencing body-shaming while on 'American Idol' and confessed that she really struggled to cope with the mean remarks she received:

"Back when I was on American Idol, I was a bit heavier than I am now. That was the first time I was exposed to the public talking about me, so it was impossible not to look online and see what they were saying. Apparently I was fat. Of course I wasn't, but sometimes words people choose are not the nicest."
