February 2nd, 2022 (Auburn, Alabama) - Nicholus Thomas aka ‘Alabama Nick’ is an Independent Candidate running a grassroots write-in campaign for Governor of Alabama. Thomas was born and raised in Alabama. He grew up in Salem, Alabama and is a graduate of Smiths Station High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served abroad and stateside. While serving, he attended Embry Riddle University where he studied professional aeronautics.

He is a Veteran of Operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. After ten years of Military service, he continued civil service working for the government specializing in aviation. He has served his country for over 25 years. He is also an activist, small business owner and music artist. Thomas has always been interested in politics, but more so in the recent years with the changing political climate in the United States. He got inspired to run for Governor while watching Alabama political ads which he viewed as racist and insensitive. “I just couldn’t sit back and watch this propaganda become normalcy,” Thomas said. “I have to do something.”

He then decided to run an Independent write-in campaign for the 2022 Alabama Governor’s race. He is using various social media platforms as leverage as he continues to raise money for campaigning and ads. He has an astounding growing support and also has a petition to officially get his name on the ballot. He knows it’s a long shot as other candidates are heavily backed and well funded, but says he will continue to fight to bring change. His intent as he put it is to “Shake Things Up”.
