First look clip: My Kitchen Rules UK

My Kitchen Rules hits our screens this Monday (3 October). See some of the thrills and spills coming up in this first-look clip.

In the all-new competitive cooking series is hosted by two legends of British cuisine - two-time Michelin Star restaurateur and chef Michael Caines, and Queen of home cooks and food writer Prue Leith. They will be joining forces to judge 16 pairs of entrepreneurial amateur cooks who open their own restaurant at home for one ambitious night, in a bid to scoop the £10,000 prize and the right to say, ‘My Kitchen Rules’.

My Kitchen Rules UK is about real people with a real passion for food. The competition kicks off in the contestant’s own kitchens. Teams of two cook a three-course restaurant standard meal against the clock for their rival teams and the judges to critique and score. Dishes served late will have points taken off.

At the end of each weekly regional heat, the action moves to Kitchen Headquarters as the competition heats up. The highest scoring team of the region wins immunity and goes through to the next leg, and the middle ranking teams cook off against each other. But the lowest scoring team from each region will be eliminated, so every team needs to hit the ground running.

With the eight remaining teams in the competition the cooking challenges will intensify at Kitchen HQ. But only the best team can walk away with the prize money and say ‘My Kitchen Rules’.

My Kitchen Rules starts Monday 3 October and airs weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4
