The first series of the brand new Superman-prequel series Krypton comes to E4 later this year, via a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (British actor Cameron Cuffe – The Halcyon), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracised, Seg is prompted into action by the arrival of Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos – The Vampire Diaries), who’s travelled from present-day Earth to warn Seg of an insidious plot to change the past and prevent the birth of the last son of Krypton – a plot he believes to have been orchestrated by the Super-Villain Brainiac (Blake Ritson – Da Vinci’s Demons). Fighting to redeem his family’s honour and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also entrusted with protecting the future of his legacy – a destiny that will see the birth of the greatest Super Hero ever known.

Krypton stars a host of new and established British talent, including BAFTA winner Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch, Flowers, Black Mirror), Wallis Day (The Royals) and Ian McElhinney (Derry Girls, Game of Thrones, Rogue One), along with guest stars Rupert Graves (Sherlock, Last Tango in Halifax) and Paula Malcomson (Ray Donovan, The Hunger Games). It was the first production to be shot in the new Belfast Harbour Studios.

Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is executive produced by writer/producer David S. Goyer, whose credits include Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the classic The Dark Knight trilogy, as well as Cameron Welsh (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Constantine, The Last Ship, Australia’s Home and Away). Produced by Phantom 4 Films in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television, the series stars Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Shaun Sipos, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Aaron Pierre (Prime Suspect 1973), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day, with Blake Ritson (Da Vinci’s Demons) and Ian McElhinney.
