Prepare to fall in love with Jungle School! This unique home for orphan orangutans learning vital life skills before they are returned to the wild is the subject of this brand-new three-part series starting on Wednesday.
Run by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, the school has a unique education system where hundreds of orangutan orphans progress through a carefully-honed curriculum designed for a series of jungle school classes and pre-release islands. The pupils range in age from a few weeks old to young adults (equivalent to nineteen-year-olds).
This three-part series reveals the often heart-rending stories behind each animal’s arrival, and follows the progress of these highly intelligent, endearing yet vulnerable students through all the stages of their education – from the nursery upwards - and their extraordinary bonds with their human helpers.
