After a hugely successful debut series Channel 4 has recommissioned Five Mile Films to produce 18 x 60-minute episodes of The Dog House. The episodes will continue to be filmed at Wood Green, The Animals Charity in Cambridgeshire which takes in hundreds of discarded, disowned or neglected dogs every year. Their staff are committed to matching their homeless dogs with hopeful owners. The new series will follow the strong team endeavouring to find the perfect match for both human and dog.

Series one launched in September 2019 and attracted an average audience of 1.4 million viewers per episode and a 7.5% share of the viewing audience on Thursdays at 8pm. The show was Channel 4’s second highest rating new series launch at 8pm among 16-34 year old viewers in 2019 and fourth biggest in its time slot for all viewers.

It also garnered rave reviews from public and press alike. The Telegraph said it was “the most charming – and emotional – show on TV”; The Guardian called it “feelgood TV at its fluffiest”; and The Times proclaimed that it was “The TV show of the decade”.

Madonna Benjamin, Commissioning Editor said: “We’re delighted that The Dog House resonated so well with a broad range of viewers and grew its audience across the first series. We’re excited to build on this with Five Mile Films.”

Nick Mirsky, MD at Five Mile Films said: “We are thrilled by the popularity of the series, and really look forward to working with the brilliant team at Wood Green again.”
