Charli XCX says successful females are always questioned

Singer Charli XCX has revealed that women who enjoy career success are either questioned or assumed to be 'bitches' and it's very unfair.

Speaking to Britain's Metro magazine, the songstress explained that it's hard to be a woman in the entertainment industry because you're always questioned and second-guessed:

"When it comes to being a successful woman, there always seems to be a question. ‘Why are you successful? Is it because you’re a b**ch?’ There always seems to be a negative connotation. There are only a few female execs at record companies. There are a lot of great female songwriters and producers, but they’re definitely a minority, especially on the business side.”

The 'Fancy' hitmaker went onto talk about the recent loss of some of music's biggest stars, namely Prince and David Bowie, and added:

“I’ve never tried to be anything that I’m not and sometimes that gets me into trouble with things I say because I’m outspoken. I grew up wanting my rock stars and musicians to be rock stars and musicians, not super tame and vanilla. I like true artists and it’s sad that we’ve lost so many icons this year – Prince and Bowie, they were kick-a**."
