Charlie Simpson on McBusted: 'I'm glad to see them having a good time'

Charlie Simpson has wished his former Busted bandmates well as they continue to enjoy success with McBusted.

The singer and musician opted out of McFly and Busted's recent supergroup as he continues to work on his own projects.

It was initially speculated that there might have been animosity between Simpson and former bandmates James Bourne and Matt Willis, but he told Digital Spy that he wishes them well.

Simpson said: "I couldn't [check out one of the McBusted shows] unfortunately, because I was on tour when they were on tour. My brothers went to see a show. I've been speaking to James quite a bit recently and I'm glad to see them having a good time, but I didn't manage to catch a show."

When asked if he has ever been tempted to jam out a Busted song on guitar when practising, the musician said:

"No...I think I was just so separated from it. To be honest, I don't tend to sit down in my own time and play my own songs. I haven't played a Fightstar song to myself since I've been doing my solo stuff, so it's not something that I do. If I'm jamming, I either write new stuff or play songs that I like [by] other people."
