Cher Lloyd: 'My Gypsy background means I should already be married'

Former X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd has opened up about her background and explained that her Gypsy roots mean that she should really have tied the knot by now.

The 'With Ur Love' songstress spoke to Heat magazine about her upbringing and confessed that although she's in love with fiancé Craig Monk there is no rush to walk down the aisle, but she wouldn't dismiss the idea entirely because the culture she was raised in promotes young marriage:

"I'm from a Gypsy background! I'm meant to be married by now. But I’m happy, really happy. I love him to pieces, more than anything in the world, but I don’t want people to take that away from me. I’m 18 years old. I know I’ve got my whole life ahead of me, but why not get hitched now?"

She also shared her experience of being a contestant on the popular vocal talent show with readers and admitted that it's not as glamourous or easy as it's often made out, and that she struggled to adjust after participating:

"I was just so angry and frustrated that people had taken my life off of me, even though I had gone on the show. I went through absolute stress and mayhem. I couldn’t go out, because people were constantly on my back all the time."

"I think if I went on this year I would smash it. I’d be so much more prepared. Sometimes I want to shout at people… I don’t want to crush anyone’s dreams, but if you’re going to go on a show like that, be prepared for a very bumpy ride."
