Xtina's 'Sex and the City' spoof landed her 'Burlesque' role

Christina Aguilera has revealed that she was chosen to play 'Ali' in the movie, 'Burlesque', after the director liked her impersonation of Samantha in a 'Sex and the City' spoof on 'Saturday Night Live'.

Despite her acting talent, the 'Bionic' star admits that she struggles with reading film scripts, as she finds it hard to concentrate.

"My attention span is very short for getting through them, so I do what I can," she said.

Although 'Burlesque' film execs told Aguilera that the movie test audiences received her acting well, the actress and singer told the L.A. Times that recent experience has taught her to tame her expectations.

"As far as like looking at numbers and figuring out test scores and things like that, I really don't try to get involved in that, and sometimes they're like, 'Why aren't you excited? Be excited.' But I have a big thing about jinxing myself before things happen ... I don't like to count my chickens before they're hatched."

'Burlesque' is due to be shown in US theatres on Thanksgiving, November 25. It is also set to be released in the UK and Ireland on December 17.
