Christina Aguilera rep denies "fat girl" quotes

A representative for Christina Aguilera has dismissed quotes from an apparent interview with the singer as fake.

It had been widely reported across the internet that the vocal star, who is releasing her new album 'Lotus' on November 12, had opened up about how her record label wanted her to lose weight in the 2000s.

She was quoted as saying: "[In 2002] I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion and during my 'Stripped' tour. They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight. I told them during this 'Lotus' recording, 'You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it'. They need a reminder sometimes that I don't belong to them. It's my body... My body is just not on the table that way anymore."

However, a rep for Aguilera has said that the interview is "fake" and Billboard, who are said to have been told the quotes, deny that it came from their recent cover interview with the singer.

It has been reported that the quotes came from US Weekly, who have since removed the article.
