Christina Aguilera: "I love maturing and getting older"

Christina Aguilera has expressed her joy at getting older.

The 31-year-old is currently enjoying a new lease of life as she gears up for the release of her new album 'Lotus'.

Aguilera, who has a four-year-old son called Max, told People that she is all about the idea of "gaining wisdom" and that she sees change as a positive thing. The singer said:

"Some people are afraid of change and [feel] that getting older is a bad thing, but I really love maturing and gaining wisdom. And the experience of being pregnant and having a child and seeing what a woman's body can do is amazing."

The vocal star also suggested that people who make remarks about her weight are misguided, adding:

"I've always been one to make it very clear, love me or hate me, take it or leave it, this is who I am. I embrace my body, and I embrace everything about myself. Coming full circle is a celebration of freedom and happiness because that's what 'Lotus' is representing. I'm embracing everything that I've grown to be and learned to be."

'Lotus' is due to be released in the UK on November 12.
