Conan Gray on critically acclaimed debut album: "I wrote 'Kid Krow' in my Bedroom"
Pop singer-songwriter Conan Gray has been named the “Biggest New Artist Debut of 2020” with the release of his record, Kid Krow, which he amazingly wrote in his bedroom and fittingly saw released whilst sitting in his bedroom due to the global coronavirus outbreak.
About his critically acclaimed debut album, Gray said: "I hope the songs that I wrote can give comfort to the people listening from their own bedrooms.
"It was a shock to me and all my friends to have our whole entire worlds put on pause due to the detrimental effects of COVID-19, but my only hope is that my album can help people find the smallest sliver of catharsis in this scary and confusing time.
"My love goes out to all the humans risking their lives to help stop the spread of this virus, including my own sister who is a nurse. They need our help now more than ever, as well as our cooperation with the social distancing rules so that we can collectively save lives.
"I thank everybody for listening to what I’ve said in my songs, I hope that they keep you company through this period of necessary isolation.”
Impressively, Kid Krow's US consumption exceeded 49,000-plus in the first week with release-to-date global consumption surpassing upwards of 200,000. Meanwhile, generating nearly 300 million global streams. The record also secured the “Top New Artist Debut on the Billboard Top 200,” capturing #5 on the Album respective chart and the #1 Pop Album, and #2 Billboard Top Album Sales.
The music star's chart-topping album has also been given the title of “Top Solo Pop Full Length Album Debut,” which was previously held by Camila Cabello’s 2018 debut.
Around the world, Kid Krow continues to soar. It bowed in the Top 5 of iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart in Australia, Canada, and The Philippines. It's also secured #2 on the Apple Music Pop US Charts.
