Demi Lovato has admitted that she is sometimes too "emotional".

The singer told People magazine that even receiving a compliment from a friend can make her burst out into tears.

The 'Neon Lights' star said: "I'm so emotional. I cry all the time. One of my friends told me how proud she was of me and how I've come so far [and that's the last time I cried]."

The former X Factor USA judge meanwhile added that she also finds it difficult sometimes to play instruments on stage, saying:

"I get really nervous and insecure when I play guitar or piano on stage. My friend said, 'Don't think about it too much, just play'."

Lovato is currently out on her Neon Lights tour at the moment, with dates due to run until May 17.
