Demi Lovato asks fans to stop sending Kathy Griffin online hate

Demi Lovato has called on her fans to "chill" in response in Kathy Griffin taking a jibe at the singer.

The US comedian was asked recently on Twitter who was the biggest "douche celebrity" she has met, with Griffin stating Lovato.

She added that the former X Factor USA judge overreacted about Lady Gaga's recent on-stage vomit stunt.

This prompted fans of the 'Neon Lights' lady to send death threats and online hate to Griffin on Twitter.

Lovato has now taken to the social networking website to criticise those who have abused the comedian on the internet. She wrote:

"I love you guys so much but y'all gotta chill with sending hate towards other people. Regardless of what they say or do...The cruel things some of you are saying can really, REALLY hurt people. It's called cyber-bullying and somethings should NEVER be wished upon EVER. No matter WHAT.

"It makes me so sad to see how mean people can really be after all I've spoken out about anti-bullying. Be an example for other haters. I know my #Lovatics are better than that. I really appreciate you guys always having my back but this is going way too far. Please spread love, not hate..."
