Demi Lovato: 'I've given up with trying to live up to other people's expectations'

Vocal powerhouse Demi Lovato, who has just announced a brand new world tour that will begin this fall, has revealed that she has given up with trying to please everyone because it's impossible and causes her to lose sight of herself.

Speaking to MTV News about the pressures of fame recently, the 'Give Your Heart A Break' beauty confessed that she is trying now to just be true to who she is:

"I try not to live up to people's expectations... it's hard because there's a lot of pressure on you as an artist - as a pop artist - to look a certain way or to act a certain way, and for your music to sound a certain way. But I feel that the more I try to please other people the less I am myself, so what I've learned over the past few years is just to be myself."

Lovato then added: "If people don't like it, f**k it. This is who I am."

The superstar has just been included in Maxim magazine's 100 Sexiest Women list and admitted that while she takes care of herself from a diet and exercise perspective, she also pays a lot of attention to working on her mental health and wellbeing

"The ability to work at bettering myself -- I'm not perfect, no one is, but I'm working at becoming better everyday. Everyday I can look back and say I'm in a better place than I was yesterday."
