Demi Lovato on One Direction: 'They're not bad, but they're a boy group'

Demi Lovato has moved to clarify comments she made about not wanting to collaborate with One Direction.

The US singer recently said in an interview that she wouldn't be keen on creating a track with the pop group.

Speaking to Montreal Virgin Radio, Lovato defended her comments by saying that a boyband isn't the type of collaborator she is looking for.

The singer said: "People are making it into a bigger deal. It’s not that big of a deal. People are making it out to be this huge thing!

"I collaborate with people who really inspire me and when I want to collaborate with someone, I wanna go after Kelly Clarkson or I want to collaborate one day with Eminem. I really love Iggy Azalea. These are people I really want to collaborate with."

Lovato continued: "I make it a point to go after people that I really enjoy and I just...I am not a One Direction fan per se...They are not bad, they’re great but...they’re a boy group."

The singer collaborated this year with The Vamps on their single 'Somebody To You' and speaking about that duet, Lovato said:

"I did collaborate with The Vamps but I loved the song. It was like not something I would typically do, but I loved the song and they are good guys."
