Demi Lovato has spoken of her gushing admiration for Fifth Harmony.

The girl group appeared on the US X Factor in 2012 when Lovato was a judge on the show.

They have since gone on to achieve huge success, with the quintet picking up the Best US Act prize at this weekend's MTV EMAs.

Speaking on Twitter about Fifth Harmony on Tuesday (November 11), Lovato said:

"Could NOT be more proud of @FifthHarmony!!! VMA & now nominated for People's Choice Awards?!!? GO VOTE NOW!!! Love you girls!!"

Fifth Harmony meanwhile this week confirmed plans to release their first UK single.

The US group will unleash 'Sledgehammer' in the country on December 7, with the girls also lined up to perform the tune on the X Factor semi-finals.
