Demi Lovato on eating habits: 'I don't call it a diet, because for me it's medicine'

Singing sensation Demi Lovato has opened up about her health regime and confessed that she likes to consider the way she eats as a lifestyle change rather than a 'diet', because that term usually brings on a backlash.

Speaking with Glam Belleza Latina’s winter issue, Lovato explained that she keeps an eye on what she eats, but doesn't like to tell herself she's 'on a diet' because that's an unhealthy way to look at it and is likely to encourage cheating or naughty habits:

“It’s very easy for my old eating habits to kick in, so I follow a pretty strict routine. I don’t like to call it a diet, because for me it’s medicine. I have a nutritionist who sends me meals wherever I am on the road. This makes everything super simple.”

She recently told E! News that her food issues tend to be highlighted around the holidays so she hired a trainer and nutritionist: "Sometimes, especially around the holidays, food issues can get frustrating. With me, I just kind of gave up, completely surrendering, and was like, 'OK, you just help me out with my food. You help me out with my training.'"
