Demi Lovato: 'I want to help women overcome body issues'

Songstress Demi Lovato has opened up about posing make-up free and naked for the new edition of Vanity Fair magazine and confessed that it was an empowering experience.

Speaking about the stunning un-retouched photographs, the 'Cool For The Summer' star admitted that it's amazing to think how confident she has become and thought it was amazing to celebrate the fact in such a bold way:

"I thought there was something incredible about the idea of no makeup whatsoever, no clothes and no retouching. I would never have thought I'd get to a place in my life where I'm comfortable doing that. It's empowering and it shows other women you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body image issues, you can feel comfortable and confident in your skin."

Lovato went onto give her own definition of what it means to be confident, adding: "What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don't give a f**k and this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that's real, that's liberated, that's free."
