Demi Lovato posts encouragement: 'We all need to face up to addiction'

Songstress Demi Lovato has encouraged Americans to face up to their addiction problems now that she is sober and enjoying a steady recovery.

She posted the following message to her Instagram page yesterday: "I am one of the 1 in 7 people (in America) who has faced addiction, and I am grateful to be in recovery today. It's time for us all to reflect, and start @facingaddiction."

"Let's stop ignoring the biggest problem in our country we often don't want to look at. We all are connected to this issue one way or another and we all need to be part of the solution. Together we can replace shame with support, hope, and healing."

Lovato also recently revealed her beauty mantra, telling her fans: "The most powerful piece of advice I learned was that I had to stop comparing myself to other people; it's something just about every woman does. You know—is she prettier? Does she have a better body? Is she funnier? Whatever it is."
