Demi Lovato reckons people still "underestimate" her - and not just in her singing.

The singer told Refinery 29 that she feels some people can't see beyond her Disney child star past.

However, the US star also believes that some onlookers think she may relapse back into substance misuse due to her age.

Lovato said: "I’m still underestimated. I still have more things to prove - not just about the things I can do with my voice.

"Some people think that because I’m young, I can’t stay sober. But these are things I want to prove to myself."

In 2010 the singer punched a backing dancer while on tour before heading to rehab for an eating disorder and cocaine use.

Friend and long-time colleague Nick Jonas meanwhile recently went on record to say that Lovato is one of the "most talented artists" around.
