X Factor USA beauty Demi Lovato has been confirmed to perform at the MTV VMAs official pre-show.

The singer and actress will treat fans to a live rendition of her single, 'Give Your Heart A Break', as part of the hour-long broadcast, which precedes the prize giving on September 6.

Speaking about her scheduled appearance, Lovato said in a statement: "I can't wait to be a part of all the action leading into an incredible night of music and fun."

She also tweeted about the fantastic news and told her 8.9 million followers that she can't wait for the day to arrive: "So freakin excited to perform at the @MTV VMA Pre-Show! I can't believe it!!!"

Earlier this month, the 'Skyscraper' star explained that she's looking forward to spending time with One Direction's Niall Horan at the VMAs as the lads are performing at the ceremony.
