Simon Cowell refuses to confirm Lovato's X Factor return

Simon Cowell has refused to confirm whether Demi Lovato will return for another series of The X Factor USA.

The show's boss - who is notoriously ruthless when it comes to series signings - wouldn't reveal if the 20-year-old singer would be sat on the judging panel again next year.

He told People: "It's that time of year [when] you're always going to get asked that question, and I'm not going to answer it."

Cowell and Lovato have famously come to blows on screen a number of times - with things even getting a little personal when Lovato slammed Cowell's love life on a recent live show: "At least I am going to be married one day, at least I'll get married one day."

The songstress - who has previously admitted the music mogul "gets on [her] nerves" - was also blasted by Cowell for being a bit "bitchy", although her fiery personality was praised too.

"She's fun. She really, really is a tough little thing. I know she plays the 'I've been bullied' [card] – trust me, this one gives as good as she gets," he smiled.

"It did get a bit bitchy and unpleasant."I've got to look after my artists. Luckily, they didn't listen to her."

Cowell has two acts left in the competition - Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony - while last night's show saw Demi's only remaining act, Cee Cee Frey, leave the show.

The X Factor USA judging panel also comprises L.A. Reid and Britney Spears.
