It has been widely reported that Demi Lovato's biological father has died.

Patrick Lovato, who reportedly endured a battle with cancer, is said to have passed away recently.

The singer's sister Dallas seemingly confirmed by the news by tweeting on Saturday (June 22):

"Rest in peace daddy I love you.."

Patrick and Demi's mother Dianna divorced in 1994.

It seems the 'Heart Attack' singer missed her X Factor duties following the news, with presenter Mario Lopez tweeting a photo of the show's other judges along with the caption:

"With my @TheXFactorUSA team! Missing @ddlovato today... :(."

Simon Cowell meanwhile later said on Twitter: "My thoughts are with you Demi. X."
