Demi Lovato launches foundation in her late father's honour

'Heart Attack' beauty Demi Lovato has announced that it was important to her for "some good to come out of my father's passing" so has decided to launch a foundation in his name.

On June 23, it was revealed that Lovato's biological father, Patrick, had passed away and she has now confirmed plans to team up with CAST Recovery centre in California to provide financial help to those in desperate need of treatment.

Writing on her official Twitter page earlier this afternoon (June 27), the songstress explained: "I believe that everything happens for a reason and I want some good to come out of my father's passing...So I am launching the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program to help pay for treatment expenses at Cast Recovery for someone who needs help. Tell me your story. Go to http://www.castrecovery.com and click on programs."

During an appearance on 'Good Morning America' today, she opened up a little more about her foundation and said: "I've dealt with mental illnesses, but my father also dealt with mental illness. He wasn't able to function very well in society and that happens to a lot of people. So this week I'm launching The Lovato Treatment Scholarship programme... with CAST Recovery, which is a treatment centre that I've worked really, really closely with... I'm basically helping one person at a time... pay for their treatment."
