Demi Lovato: "I feel like I can overcome anything"

Demi Lovato has opened up about how she continues to struggle with personal issues that she sought help for in rehab in 2010.

In an interview with OK! the ‘Heart Attack’ singer revealed she does not allow herself to go clubbing for fear of reverting back to the problems she previously conquered.

Lovato said: “I don't go out to clubs or anything like that because for me it's a trigger. I'm constantly doing things to better myself.”

The 20-year-old actress and singer has previously admitted that she suffered from bulimia, self-harm and substance abuse. She completed inpatient treatment at the Timberline Knolls rehab facility in January 2011.

Demi confessed that although she has many people around her for support she finds being famous adds more pressure to her situation.

The ‘Made In the USA’ star explained: “It's hard to do on my own. I sometimes rely on my team around me; my friends and my family and my management. It's too much to handle already, and when you're in the public eye, it makes it twice as hard.”

She continued: “That's why, fortunately, I've surrounded myself with people I can trust to help me get through it. I feel like I can overcome anything.”

Demi also discussed the Lovato Treatment Scholarship she has set up in memory of her father who passed away last year.

“He suffered from mental illness and it alienated him from the outside world… I'm partnering with CAST Recovery [a social-services agency] to provide treatment for people with addictions or mood disorders.”
