'Heart Attack' songstress Demi Lovato is currently in Kenya with 'Me to We' on a charitable volunteer trip and spent her 21st birthday there, which she described as the best experience she's ever had.

She's working with Free The Children to help build a new school and recently told MTV News that heading to Africa for her 21st birthday seemed liked the best present she could both give and receive:

"With 21 being a milestone birthday, I wanted a memorable and meaningful way to celebrate, rather than throw a big birthday bash. I knew traveling with Me to We and volunteering with Free The Children would give me the opportunity to have a life-changing experience I would never forget, with the people closest to me.”

Writing on her official Twitter page earlier this afternoon, the beauty shared a photograph of herself (shown below) cutting a cake and accompanied it with the caption:

"This trip has been such an amazing experience. Yesterday was the best birthday of my entire life!!! @freethechildren."
