Demi Lovato: 'I won't sacrifice my mental health for the perfect body'

Inspirational hitmaker Demi Lovato has admitted that while she feels as though she has made significant progress since admitting herself to rehab for mental health issues along with an eating disorder, she still has her problem areas but knows how to rise above the stress.

She explained to Teen Vogue that there are parts of her body that she wishes were different, but she refuses to allow these little niggles to drag her down so she finds ways to feel happy in her own skin:

"I don't have the body of a model or Barbie. My main thing about being in the spotlight with my fans is, I want to be real to them. I have my problem areas, but I'm happy in my skin right now. I'm not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body."

The 'Heart Attack' beauty added that one of the biggest ways to relieve anxiety, for her, is to talk things out with friends so she is more open now:

"You've gotta be honest with people around you. And honest with yourself. When you're having a rough day, be like, 'I don't want to talk about this, but I need to get it off my chest.' If you have a secret—secrets make you sick."
