At the youthful age of 19, PaulWetz from the Black Forest in Germany started his musical journey touring Europe with Texan born Berlin based singer Sean Bradford in the summers of 2016 and 2017. In addition to being his support DJ and live act, he produced a number of his tracks including 44th and 8th which has had over 2 million streams on Spotify.
After 2 full packed summers performing at over 60 venues across Europe, Paul, now 22, moved to Stockholm to work with Flak Records boss Oskar Marks and began focussing on his solo career. His early releases were predominately Deep House: these included ‘Slavery', which he wrote with Turkish pop star Sena Sener. Since then he has released several Deep House tracks under the Flak Records imprint including ‘Moonlight' which received support from Indie Shuffle and 1daytrack, Third Eye from Dancing Astronaut, and ‘Silver Ice' from La Belle Musique to name a few.
Following his 2017 summer tour with Sean Bradford, Paul settled down in Sweden and spent the next months in the studio during the long dark Swedish winter where he re-discovered and developed his love for singing and song-writing. It was this setting coupled with some changes to his personal life that inspired him to begin creating his debut E.P. ‘Surrender'.
Drawing upon influences from his deep house roots and merging with his love of acoustic song-writing, the five track EP is an Indie Electronic concoction full of stories from his past year, blending his soft voice together with his dark synth sounds over a driving breakbeat. Paul wrote the track for his ex-girlfriend, when he was alone in Sweden during a particularly cold and dark winter day. He says: " The E.P. was my output in a time of struggle: at the time I was working in a call centre to be able to stay in Sweden. I was missing my relationship that had ended, because of my move. The E.P, is dedicated to my ex-girlfriend and I see it mostly as an appreciation/recap of the time we had together".
‘Surrender' is deep and sometimes dark, and comes with a mix of heavy synths and delicate drums. The acoustic element is strong with sentimental vocals and guitar from Paul. The E.P. has given Paul a platform for a new kind of one-man live performance where you can expect live vocals, guitar, synths and drums.
‘SURRENDER' IS OUT NOW
