Dolly Parton: "I look completely false when I'm completely real"

Country superstar Dolly Parton has been reflecting on the flood of success she has enjoyed in 2014.

The past year saw Parton playing Glastonbury where she drew the biggest audience in the festival’s history, and had her highest charting UK album with ‘Blue Smoke’.

In an interview with The Guardian Dolly’s manager, Danny Nozell, revealed that it has all been part of a plan to “try and put her back on top in the tail-end of her career.”

The Guardian reported that they were privy to talk about the ‘9 To 5’ star playing Wembley Stadium and an event called Dollyfest taking place in Hyde Park.

Talking about her continuing success, Dolly stated: “I’ve been around a long time. Long enough for people to realise that there’s more to me than the big hair and the phoney stuff.”

She added: “The magic with me is that I look completely false when I’m completely real.”

Speaking about her constant drive to succeed, the 68-year-old singer-songwriter explained:

“Ever since I was little I’ve been like a horse with blinders. I didn’t hear a voice, but it was a knowing that came to me, and it said, ‘Run. Run until I tell you to stop.’ And that’s what it’s been, I’ve kept on keeping on. And I never let a person, nor a thing, nor a sickness, nor a heartache, nor anything keep me from keeping on.”
