Dolly Parton on her 50-year marriage: 'Some things are sacred and private'
Country legend Dolly Parton has opened up about her marriage of 50 years to Carl Thomas Dean and explained that he is a very private person so doesn't appear with her in public that often.
Speaking to Vogue magazine recently, the sensation admitted that she never intentionally withholds personal information and instead her husband just prefers to keep out of the spotlight so they choose to live their lives that way:
"My husband is not one who wants to be just thrown out there. He’s very private, and I’ve always respected that for him and about him. And so, we just try to live our lives. I’m not holding back any information, but there are just some things that are sacred and private."
When asked if keeping her marriage of 50 years out of the spotlight might be the reason for its longevity, Parton added: “I do think that’s had a lot to do with it. If we had fallen victim to every tabloid story and all that - we just try to find the humour in it."
The icon will release her highly anticipated new studio album, entitled 'Pure and Simple, on August 19. In a statement about the record, Parton said:
"I may not be pure, but I’m as simple as they come! This new Pure & Simple project is really special to me because I’m taking my fans back to my roots. I feel like these songs have a pure, tender side and we didn’t go overboard with arrangements. I’m so glad we’ve teamed up with our friends at Sony to get this album out to the fans.”
