Drake cancels Wireless Festival shows

Drake has cancelled his upcoming appearances at this weekend's Wireless Festival.

The Canadian was due to headline the event's Birmingham gig on Friday (July 4) before heading to London on July 5.

However, after rumours emerged on Twitter that Drake may cancel, the festival's organisers have today (July 3) confirmed that he has pulled out.

The hip-hop man said: "To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend. I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me. I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can't wait to come back to make more incredible memories together."

Fellow headliner Kanye West will now play a second set in London on Saturday, whilst Rudimental will rope in some special guests for an extended slot in Birmingham on Friday.

The London event is due to take place in Finsbury Park, with the Birmingham festival set for Perry Park.
